As Hip Hop stars, they arrived on the rap and rhythm scene in 1998 with
their debut album "Behind the Front". Combining Latin, soul, funk and
Asian rhythms, the Black Eyed Peas broke from the street rap
shackles, emerging from Los Angeles, as MC trio Will-I-Am (born March
15, 1975), Apl-de-Ap (born July 14, 1975), and Taboo (born July 14,
1975).
Encompassing broad enrapturing rhythms, non-confrontational spirit, and
ethnic positivism, they impacted the scene immediately. W & A met as
schoolmates, performing locally as Atban Klann, then were joined
by Taboo in 1995, emerging as the Black Eyed Peas, soon after achieving
a label deal with Interscope Records. Their second album, "Bridging the
Gap", was assisted by soul singer Macy Gray. Third album, "Elephunk" in
2003, had a UK hit single "Where Is The Love?", featuring Justin
Timberlake, and was followed by a second hit, "Shut Up." Creative,
unique, and positive, they have embraced the globe and the International
fans have responded in kind. They have been joined by singer, Fergie,
whose vocal contributions melded with the directions and approaches,
leading to Black Eye Peas lyrics as paramount importance to the
